A crying infant can be distressing to parents and providers alike. While approximately only 5% of excessive crying is from a pathologic cause, a missed diagnosis can be fatal. Each question will include a clinical case presentation with an accompanied discussion on labs and imaging and treatment. We’ll work through the mnemonic IT CRIES to help identify pathologic causes of excessive crying and help the provider become more confident in the diagnosis of a fussy infant.

5 Can’t-Miss EKG Objectives
If you do sports physicals, this lecture is a “Can’t-Miss” topic! We’ll cover 5 EKG findings that could have very bad outcomes, including Brugadas Syndrome and Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. You’ll meet a young female who the clinician thought was just anxious, but had something far more ominous. And, we’ll evaluate the EKG of an athlete who “passed out” and was discharged home with a normal workup and died. Plus, we’ll cover specific questions to ask a patient who has palpitations and findings to spot that machine software interpretation will not catch!
