Cardiology CME: Transforming the Future of Heart Health

Why American Heart Month Matters for Clinicians

February is American Heart Month, and this year, the message is clear: anyone can save a life. In every cardiac emergency, the real first responder is not always a uniformed professional but often a friend, family member, or even a stranger nearby. Ordinary people have extraordinary power, and those around the person in an emergency are the first responders until professional help arrives. It’s an important effort: heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups; 1 in every 4 deaths in the U.S. related to cardiovascular disease; nearly half of U.S. adults have high blood pressure, which puts them at risk for heart disease and stroke; and the cost of health care services and medications from heart disease amounted to more than $168 billion between 2021 and 2022. That’s why, we’re committed to providing impactful Cardiology CME!

American Heart Month is, not surprisingly, an educational and awareness campaign that Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts stands behind and supports, with our own focus on providing cardiology-focused CME year-round as part of our In-Person CME Conferences and Online CME sessions. Whether you’re a nurse practitioner (NP), physician assistant (PA), registered nurse (RN), or physician, you’ll find our cardiology content the most up-to-date, cutting-edge information and research available where and when you need it.

Cardiology CME: Education That Saves Lives

Sarah Schroeder, PhD, ACNP-BC, MSN RN, AACCA, and one of our speakers focusing on cardiology in 2026, is especially excited to discuss advances in left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), a pump used for patients who have reached end-stage heart failure.

“LVAD therapy survival is at an exciting 52 percent at the seven-year mark,” she said. “And while this may seem low, this is the newest data out there and has never been reported in any other pump to date, as the concern was only to two years out previously. More than 60,000 people qualify for an LVAD, but the therapy is drastically underutilized, and less than 10 percent receive this life-saving therapy each year. We have to do better as clinicians who treat heart failure every day, and I’m excited to discuss this – and more! – with Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts CME conference attendees.”
