Celebrating PA Week with our CME Conferences Speakers – Online and In-Person!

Physician Assistant (PA) Week runs every year from October 6-12, giving everyone in the medical community the opportunity to celebrate all that PAs have accomplished, highlight the care they provide to their patients, and elevate the profession. It’s a worthy cause: According to the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), there are more than 175,000 PAs in the U.S., and they together have more than 500 million patient interactions every year! Furthermore, nine in 10 patients agree that PAs are a critical part of the solution to healthcare workforce shortages, improve health outcomes for patients, and add value to healthcare teams. Those are facts we at Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts can get behind, and every year, we welcome thousands of PAs to our online CME conferences and to our in-person CME Conferences, with many of our top-rated speakers also highly regarded PAs in their fields.

In 2024, in fact, we featured eight PAs in our impressive roster of CME conference speakers: Jeremy Adler, DMSc, PA-C, DFAAPA, pain management and pharmacology; Aleece Fosnight, PA-C, CSC-S, CSE, NCMP, women’s health; Zachary Hartsell, DHA, PA-C, cardiology & emergency medicine; Gina Mangin, MPAS, PA-C, dermatology; Kara Roman, MMS, PA-C, dermatology; Kristin Rygg, PA-C, dermatology; Sarah Schettle, PA-C, MS, MBA, cardiology & emergency medicine; and Gerald Weniger, PhD, ATC, PA-C, orthopedics.

In 2025, we will welcome six more PAs to our online CME and in-person CME Conferences: Amy Butts, PA-C, DFAAPA, BC-ADM, CDCES, diabetes; Viet Le, DMSc, PA-C, FACC, FAHA, HF-Cert, cardiology & emergency medicine; Jameka McElroy, MSPAS, PA-C, dermatology; Nisha McKenzie, PA-C, CSC, MSCP, IF, women’s health; Maggie McKernan, MPAS, PA-C, dermatology; and Travis Randolph, PA-C, ATC, orthopedics.

CME Conferences: PA Spotlight

What do some of our PA speakers love most about presenting at our CME Conferences?

Kristin Rygg, an SDPA Director at Large and SDPA Committee Member of the Year, replied, “Because I believe it’s imperative that we never stop learning. Knowledge and experience builds on itself; we owe it to our ourselves and our patients!”

That desire to share her knowledge and continue learning extends beyond Skin, Bones, Hearts & Private Parts: Kristin also co-hosted the AAPA Huddle, “Ask Me: Dermatology” in 2022, and the AAPAs “PA Like a Pro” dermatology edition in 2023. She is also a Director at Large for the Colorado Dermatology PAs (CDPA) and previously served as a Director at Large for the Florida Society of Dermatology PAs (FSDPA) and Trustee at Large for the Dermatology PA Foundation (DPAF). She is an SDPA Diplomate.

Sarah Schettle, who had heart palpitations at the beginning of her career, hopes to make cardiology understandable, helpful, and fun for all attendees because it is her favorite area of medicine. After having worked for more than 13 years as a PA-C in cardiovascular surgery, providing care for advanced heart failure patients with surgically implanted left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), she added, “It’s so helpful and important to be aware and up-to-date on advances in medicine that have taken place since our initial training program. CME also serves to remind us of so many important aspects of patient care in areas outside of one’s primary practice.”
